Update on back
Sep 26, 2003
I went back to my primary care dr yesterday for a follow up to my mid back spasms and leg pain. I was pretty scared because in the past week or so I was having trouble sleeping and waking up short of breath. It turns out I have bronchitis! I thought it was my back spasming into my chest that was causing some chest pain. LOL

The next surprise was the dr mentioned I have a "slight" curve in my Thoratic spine, right where I have pain. The x-rays showed this, but earlier in the week his nurse had called me and told me they were fine and never mentioned it! At this point, the dr isn't sure if the spasms caused my spine to curve a bit or it's always been there and just been undetected.

I'm on Prednisone as well as muscle relaxers and am starting PT on Weds morning. I go back for a follow up in about a month to see where things are with my pain and to also let my bronchitis clear up. Dr mentioned if I had an MRI now it might show false results. He basically wants to see if that curve is still there after meds and some PT. Both him and my chiro have mentioned I have a lot of symptoms of spinal stenosis, so I hope that isn't the case! It's just wait and see at this point.

Hope everyone has a good and pain free weekend!
Katt

Hey Sioux-z-q! I'm feeling much better thank you. Right now I'm on Prednesone for my bronchitis and it's making my back feel sooo good! I almost feel "normal" again :) I'm only on it for 2 more days though, so I have to enjoy it while I can really. I start PT tomorrow, so I'm hoping it all goes well and I can get some relief.

I've actually been with my highschool sweetheart since I was 14, so we've been together 11 years now! He finally proposed for my 25th birthday back in April. We're not planning on getting married anytime soon because of my back :( I would rather wait and see where things go from here and what my treatment options are. I'm sorry to hear that your wedding was ruined by pain, that's just horrible :( Hopefully you're doing better since your surgery? I hope that you can get back to your newlywed life and all the active things you use to be able to do. It's hard with being so young, I feel like a 70 year old sometimes jut sitting inside reading books and watching tv after work. I read on your other post that you weld, which is what my sweetie does for a living :)
Take care [img]http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/heart.gif[/img]

Hey, now that is strange, we were born just 3 days apart :) My birthday is April 13th! How neat is that?!

I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better but please be careful and don't over do it! I over did it this past weekend since I felt "ok" and went out for a long lunch and then some shopping. I know it doesn't sound like much, but by the time I got home I was ready to die.

Thanks for the wedding planning advice, I think we'll just go to Vegas though. All of my family and most of his is back on the East Coast in NY, so I think it's just going to be something really small.

Take Care,
Katt
