What's up everybody.
My name is Mike. I was injured at my place of employment in Nov. of 2005 due to repetitive motions of lifting and twisting with very heavy objects. I had 2 herniated discs at L4-L5, L5-S1 which caused unbearable pain down my leg. Before this injury, i had back pain almost everyday for over 2 years at my job. The back spasms kept me out weeks at a time. On dec. 30th, 2005, i had a two-level microdiscectomy which took away the pain instantly. Thankgod i got one of the top 5 neurosurgeons in wisconsin.
It has been 7 months since the surgery (6 being in therapy). I still have pain in the hip area. So, after awhile standing and walking on my leg, the hip (going to the outer side of my butt) begins to hurt causing my whole leg to become weak.
At first I thought it was a tight puriformis, but in therapy, we have been working on healing that area with no results. So, i have another MRI on friday because my doc said the disc above the repaired ones, might have took on the blunt of the work and bulged.
I would just like a few opinions or personal experiences in relation to my surgery and what to expect later on. I really want to play basketball again, but my therapist is hesitant on letting me play. I mean, it's been 7 months, if it hasn't fully recovered now, will it ever?
By the way, I am in therapy doing machine weights, ab machine, leg press, med-ex machines, etc.
Also, is this considered a permanent partial disability or total permanent? What is the difference?
Thanks for everyone's time.

Mike
