Hi Emily, I agree with Carol.. you could be a transportation vessel for an OR sponge! Tell them you want $$ for return of their sponge and you'll hold it hostage until they cough up $$$, and lots of it! lol. Sorry, I couldn't help myself on that one. I also thought of your being a "surrogate sponge mother" too. Sorry, blame it that I haven't had my meds yet! lol.

In being serious, I would do just as Carol had said.. I would not say you took anything, but say you did see in the folder and what it said about the sponge. Ask what that means.

It COULD be possible, that xray was done before they closed you and noticed the sponge then and it's no longer in there. You never know.

You won't know unless you ask, and you do indeed have a right to know.

Let us know how it turns out. Tam
could they have done the xray before they closed you up? If so, maybe the sponge would have still been in there. Just another thought. You do hear reports of doctors leaving things inside patients all the time. I hope it is nothing to worry about.
Okay okay, The 1930 DOES mean 7:30 PM. When an xray is done and when the report is read can lead to different times being noted.

if you weren't closed up yet they could have had a sponge in there to help with bleeding still. They will take a xray sometimes before they close everything up to make sure everything is in possition correctly.

The other thing is, my surgeon left a kind of gauze thing in me after surgery to help with bleeding, it desolves over time. I really wouldn't worry too much about this, but if you really are concerned you can always ask the doc, I'm guessing its nothing serious though.
