Re: Diskectomy
Feb 22, 2007
Sorry I didn't get back to you before your appointment! I did have occasional numbness and tingling in my feet before the sugery, but it was not constant and it wasn't the most intense pain I felt. Most of my pain affected my sciatic nerve - lots of pain in the hips, thighs, and radiating down my legs. I could barely walk around the block! Now I walk more than a mile a day, and am traveling by air for work on a regular basis. All of the pain I had before the surgery is since gone, and I don't have any loss of sensation in any way. I am acutely aware that I am still recovering, and I feel it when I allow myself to do more than I am able to do - mostly in the form of stiffness and pain in my low back, but all of my nerve pain is gone and I feel wonderful! I am 32 years old, and this was my first surgery - back or otherwise - and I was very apprehensive about what to expect, too. I hope the appointment with your surgeon went well - let me know what you decide to do! My surgery was done my a neurosurgeon in Milwaukee - a phenomenal, cutting edge surgeon.
