Continuing Pain
Feb 21, 2007
Hello all. I think I posted on this board awhile back (like in september) about a laminectomy I had August 17th. I continued to have pain which is why I posted. Anyway, the latest news for me is I was referred to a pain clinic for this continuing pain. Went to the clinic and I pretty much knew what they were going to say but, I figured I had to go because, and I know this is terrible, but I don't want to be in the position of not being able to get pain meds from the neuro dr. I knew what they were going to say by reading this board:) So they suggested the usual; the SI injections, acupuncture, and another round of PT. I am opting to not do any of these as I don't feel they will give me any relief. My pain is more of a deep aching pain in my lower back that radiates out into my right hip. No leg or buttock pain and no burning pain. Also when I was at the neuro's, the PA that saw me said there is a strong possibility I may have to be on pain meds for a long time. I am taking vicodin and I really don't want to take it because I know eventually I will have to take more to get the same effects or switch all together to something stronger. Uhmmm....no thank you. I want to try to start swimming and get back to a regular walking program. Very hard to do as I work, go to school and live in N.Y. and don't like walking when it is 10 degrees out. I have been goiong to the mall but that is not always convenient for me as I live 30 minutes away from it. I feel like I am making excuses here. I actually feel like a wimp complaining on here after reading some of your posts. You poor people. My heart goes out to you. At least I can work and go to school and walk. How do you guys keep from getting depressed? I was really in a funk several weeks ago just thinking about dealing with this pain for the rest of my life and then my neck started to hurt but that has since resolved itself. Thank goodness. How do you do it? Stay positive that is?
