No, your sciatic nerve is located in the lower lumbar, posterior buttock area and the inguinal area (which is where your leg attaches to the hip). This nerve is the largest nerve in the body.

Many people that have lumbar issues often seem to have some neck issues as well "it seems". But they do not go hand in hand and are not considered related.

Yes SCIATICA can stem from the lumbar spine issue, piriformis muscle issues/spasms (which runs along the sciatic nerve), etc. Both these areas can mock the extact same pain and are often confused for one another.

An MRI can greatly tell what is or isnt going on in your spine and if it's negative, then the piriformis could be more suspect of the cause of your pain.

Either way.. you dont wanna mess around with this. Get yourself checked. IF a nerve is pinched and for a long period of time.. it's get a memory of sorts and the pain (nerve damage) could in fact, be permanent. HENCE, BE LOOKED AT!

Hope this helps you some.

It sounds like exactly where my hubby was massaging my back/hip. It started hurting yesterday so, I had him rub it for like 30 min. Maybe he irritated it (obviously) and now I REALLY hurt with this sciatic pain going from the buttocks down to my ankle! Is there anything I can do for the pain besides IB Profin? I took a hot tub and that didn't seem to help much. Any ideas?
