I had an operation to remove part of my disc (in S1 position) around 5 weeks ago and everything was going great - walking improved, sitting was a joy, my life was heading back in the right direction.

However, I thought I would get a little bit more exercise (2m walk) than usual last week and the following day I was bent over double. I had difficulty walking and had to drag my feet to walk.
The pain from my Sciatica is NOT there at all. There is no pain running down the back of either leg - infact the pain is actually on the opposite side to the previous pain caused by my prolapsed disc.

I had scoliosis too - (my back was twisted due to the sciatica and I'm thinking the muscles haven't been working correctly because of this for months).

The pain feels like a pulled muscle - it's at the base of my back, around the side, on my buttock and also the top of my leg (groin area).

I've put ice on for 30 minutes at a time, I'm having hot baths but would like to know if this is "normal" to have muscle pain after this operation and also how long the pain will last.

My GP has said I should see a big improvement in 7-10 days.

This is a big set back as I was doing really well - probably pushed myself too hard too early. :(

Was hoping to go back to work next month but if I feel like this, there's no chance.

Thanks for reading
