I've had moderate and more recently sharp lower back pain for about 6 months now. If I bend at just the right angle, it feels like a tazor hitting my back. Can anyone explain the seriousness of these results? PT has been prescribed so I look forward to trying to make this better but I'd like more meaning to these results. Thanks!

L1-2, L2-3, L3-4, and L4-5: The discs are of a normal height and signal. No disc bulge or protrusion. No neural foraminal and/or spinal stenosis.

L5-S1 : The disc is decreased in both height and signal. There is a lateralized disc protrusion, seen paracentrally towards the left, displacing the left S1 nerve root posteriorly. This is superimposed on a more broad based disc bulge associated with some mild posterior ridging. There is also noted to be a bilateral facet hypertrophy at this level as well. On image # of series X, there is what may be a small extruded disc fragment, seen extending superior to the disc space on the left side.

IMPRESSION: DEGENERATIVE CHANGES CENTERED AT L5-S1
