I'm wondering the same about finding a doc who can help or at least help me get on social security disability with all the things I have going on. I too have a Lumbosacral Transitional Vertebrae (Bertolotti's syndrome) only with an L6 and tethered cord also. Been in pain since I was very young. I've never been able to run other than a short sprint when I was younger. I can't hardly do anything now I can't even shave my legs! I went to an osteopath she did nothing but tell me to go find a rich husband and said there was no subjective evidence of me having pain. Because you can't prove you have pain! She wouldn't even send me to get x-rays of my back after I got worse and could hardly walk anymore. Then after several visits and persistence she sent me to a pain specialist, not a spine doc, who finally did x-rays and offered steroid injections. Looked into the injections and they cause your vertebral discs to degenerate faster. I already have degeneration I'm not going to do something that only puts a band-aid over the problems and creates future complications. I'm going to try acupuncture next. I wish you both luck with your treatments!

It's one condition that definitely sucks to have, as very few doctors take it seriously. They are taught that transitional vertebrae do not cause back pain, and that's that. Well, what they don't realize is that one that is half one and half the other can cause serious problems. Mine is unilateral, unfused . . . and I have right side only SIJD as well? Considering that unfused paddle of bone is sitting right over my right SI joint, common sense would tell me that is a problem.

Keep pushing with the docs until you can get one that listens to you. I'll tell you now, that if you don't have a doc that takes the situation seriously, it's going to be a big nightmare to get disability. I just got denied again, and the only option left to me is to take the SSA to court. Like I want to spend another year on this! It' been three already.
