Well, my back pain first started when I was 10 years old resulting from a gymnastics accident. Then again in a car accident at 16 years old. All along and continuing after that accident I had back pain and when it would get real bad I would end up at the ER and be told it was a sprain or a strain when they couldn't find anything on the X-rays to indicate otherwise. Well, at 24 years old I had my first child and within a month after that I started having severe shooting pains down my legs. I went to the doctor and was told that I had simple sciatica and that it was nothing unusual and prescribed me some anti-inflammatories. I ended up changing doctors in the process of changing insurance and when I was still having back and leg pain I went to them. They proceeded to do an MRI and then sent to a nuerosurgeon because they said that I had a ruptured disk at L5-S1. I had a discectomy and laminectomy done with very good results. I still had some back pain here and there, but not a real lot. So, when my husband and I wanted to have another baby, my doctor said that as long as I was careful and didn't work where I could cause excessive strain we did just that. All went well until about 2 weeks before my second child was born and all of the sudden she dropped and all the pain came back. We hoped that it was her new position not further disk damage, but lo and behold 2 months after her birth they decided it was time to take a look with another MRI. Sure enough I had re-ruptured the same disk, but worse this time around and he told me that surgery was the way to go again. So, I had the same surgery all over again that was in March of this year. Since then I have not only ended up with the same pain that I started with, but increased and different pain as well. I have a cramping pain in my legs to join the radiating sharp pain. I also have much more numbness and tingling than before. I have no surface feeling in the lower, outer part of my right leg. And after telling my doctor over and over again that things were getting worse not better this is where I ended up! I know that was a bit long winded, but I tend to ramble, sorry!
