Re: New here

To answer your questions, here goes:
The type of surgery I had was hemi-laminotomy and microdisectomy. L5S1 region. It was also considered Emergency Surgery as I developed a condition called cauda equina that kind of speeded up the need for surgery right away. This is my 1st major surgery of any kind, yes. Only time in hospital was with birth of my two children. I was in pain for over a year. Pain could have been back as far as the birth of my first child, my son, when I developed extreme sciatica then and just progressively over the years got worse. I had one fall over a gate we use in our house for safety when the kids were younger and broke my toe in the process. I then had a fall down the stairs in our house and twisted my L knee. Last summer was really the LAST straw for me. I was debilitated ALL of last year. I couldn't do ANYTHING! I mean I did my normal things in pain. The condition worsened when I was about to attempt the epidural injections and I never got to them as I developed cauda equina and was in bad shape. So there is my story. On 2-14-02 I went in for the above mentioned surgery and I just recently hit my 3rd month in recovery and am slowly and patiently getting better over a period of time. Let me know your story as well and nice meeting you and good luck to you!
