Im new around here and looking forward to getting to know you all at some time or another. My name is Suz and Im married to Scott. Please take the time to read this maybe you can offer some insight. Sorry its long but....have alot to say to familiarize us to you.
My husband is 39 years old he worked as a foreman for 8 years in an alluminium extrusion plant..(all the dirty work believe it or not) Anyways he was driving a tow motor in 1999 to the repair garage because it had a hydraulic leak leaving the forks slowing working them way down. He hit a swell joint in the floor(that had been hit before with never being repaired)with the forks it stopped the tow motor instantly. the end result was him being thrown around the inside of the tow motor injuring his back. He has herniated disc L-5 S-1.Wehad many test done MRI x2,Mylogram,Bone Scans, Etc.... they said allthey can do is put him on pain meds and anyiinflamitorys. We lived this way for 18 months..in the meantime he wasnt able to work. He went back to work and they fired him(he was onlight duty) Tey said they did away with his management position. Anyways we went thru therapy of all kinds to no avail no success. they set him up for a series of 3 epidurals...They never worked not even a little bit. They finally did a 2nd MRI and found nerves were being trapped..gee wonder what they were waiting for seeing as he was numb from back to the tip of his toes on his left leg.Proceeding with surgery they removed the bulging part of the disc and untangled the nerves. the pain subsided to only being hip to mid thigh...great a breakthru but still unable to work . On a scale of 1-10 hispain was still a 7. They fed him meds from January 2001 to the present and decided he was ready for a 2nd set of epidurals which this time would be perfomed by the Dr in his office. Has anyone ever heard of an epidural laying flat on your belly?? Well this is the kind of epidural they performed on him Very very painful from what Scott has told me. When they were done we were left in a room with a nurse checking on him about once every half hour because he was totally numb from the waist down with a spinal headache. Every time he tried to stand his legs dropped right out from underneath of him . when he was finally able to leave he still had a spinal headache and horrible back pain. They said we will call you in a few days to schedule another epidural and to see how your doing. He will never get another injection in his back. This was the day before ThanksgivingI awoke on Thanksgiving day to my husband in severe pain practically in tears from the pain. Friday we recieved a call from the nurse..who wasnt very educated in the epidural area to even know why this happened or if it as even normal...we told her our story and all she could say is that it didnt sound right that we had to call the dr back on Monday..Gee thanks what a wonderful holiday we had needless to say. We called the dr and we conly ever got to speak to his right hand man and he said I will have to call you back when I get ahold of Dr. we waited 2 hours before recieving a callNOT FROM THE DR EITHER.And all the offering they had to give us was stronger pain meds and antidepressants....Sound right to anyone else ...Cause sure sounds bad to me...Any help would be absolutely wonderful
