Hello, I'm 35 yrs old and diagnosed with cervical injury, and flattening of my spinal cord in two places. The pain from these neck injuries are nearly unbearable. I take pain medication for it, but it doesn't help, and I end up feeling weird. The reason for writing this is to understand my MRI, and to try and get some straight answers. I've studied it, but to put it all together and make sense of it, is proving difficult, and that is putting it mildly. Any help is greatly appreciated. MRI no comparison. c3-4, bulging of the disc is present asymmetric to the right with effacement of right ventral subarachnoid space and mildly flattened appearance of the right ventral cord. c4-5, mild left posterior spondylosis and uncinate hypertrophy are present with mild impression on the left ventral thecal sac and very mild narrowing the proximal foramen. c5-6, posterior spondylosis and bulging of the disc are present asymmetric to the right posteriorly with suggestion of a more focal posterior right protrusion as well. Effacement of the ventral subarachnoid space results with flattening of the ventral cord on the right. Mild uncinate hypertrophy is also suggested on the left. c6-7 bulging of the disc is present with partial effacement of the ventral subarachnoid space.

Then it goes on to talk about disc degenerative changes noted particularly at the c-3-4, c5-6, and c6-7 levels and to a lesser degree, c4-5 as described in detail for each of those levels above. Secondary deformity of the ventral margin of the cord noted at the c5-6 predominantly on the right, and to a lesser degree c3-4. I know this is a lot to read, but please I need to understand about this. I'm afraid of being paralyzed. I'm sorry i didn't say how this happened to me. It's very personal, and I'm unable to talk about it yet. I'm alive and that is a good thing, unless I end up paralyzed. Thanks for taking time to read this, and please any responses are appreciated, Susanne C.
