Sorry for your continued pain. Some adjustment to the surgery/new spinal arrangement is to be expected. I had bad stomach pains, so I tried hugging a pillow to myself whenever I slept, coughed, sneezed, laughed. I guess I should have just duct-taped a pillow around my midsection. However, I was not taking any narcotic medications at 8 weeks post-op. When you try to sleep on your back, are you putting a pillow under your knees? If sleeping on your side, a pillow between the knees should help when lying on your side.

Have you been back to see your doctor since the surgery? Has he/she given you any input on your continued pain? Are you taking any muscle relaxants? If not, you might want to discuss this with your doctor. If your pain is from spasms, a muscle relaxant may help more than any painkillers. You might also want to ask for a couple physical therapy visits to show you appropriate stretches to help your back relax.
