I'm sure you haven't damaged the surgery...but avoid sleeping on your stomach. Once you are healed from the surgery you still shouldn't sleep on your stomach as it hyperextends the spine and will just put more pressure on the adjacent discs.

Train yourself to sleep on your back with pillows under the knees, or better yet, on your side with a small pillow between the knees. The point is to support the natural curves of the spine. If you have problems learning to do this, get a variety of sizes of pillows and prop yourself so that you won't roll over while asleep.
