Did you have a trial period done? I did a trial period back in June and it was amazing. I have tried the tens machine and there is no comparison so for anybody to compare the two have not had one implanted. I have multiple sclerosis so I had to wait for Medtronic to come out with a MRI approved stimulator which they did in late August of 2013. So, YES they do have them now that are MRI approved and I would highly suggest this since we all know how many mri's are needed when you have a bad back.

As far as the recovery from the implant I had over 30 staples and 2 incisions but it wasn't really that bad at all. The hardest part was being scared to bend and twist or lift and screw up the implant. I was able to use the machine the same day as surgery and it was truly a God send for me and my entire family.

I did have to get used to the electrical sensation it was difficult to get this big shock when I would cough or raise my voice or move different but it only took about 2 weeks and I was used to it.

The problem I am having right now is I fell about a month ago and landed on my back were pretty sure I have ruptured another disc but are awaiting for the MRI tech to figure out how to do the MRI (which I was told they already knew how) however, I am also the first in my state to have a MRI approved spinal cord stimulator implanted. So, right now I'm back to my same miserable pain and back on my walker which I was so happy to park in the garage to collect spider ****. I am a bit frustrated with this process as I think that I have moved the leads when I fell and now I have to wait for the MRI tech to figure out how to give me an MRI so I can be fixed.

So, for myself it has been wonderful and life changing (except for my stupid fall). I hope it all works out for you. Keep us posted on your outcome and remember it does take some time to adjust to this strange electical feeling but it is so worth it.
