... Hi all! I'm a bit frustrated about what my next option should be, so any advice will be greatly appreciated. For starters, I herniated my L5S1 about two years ago. I went through PT, 6-8 injections, 2 blocks, and a RFA, which was just in Sept. I was able to get some relief from these procedures, but unfortunately not enough. My pain management doctor told me in Oct.... (3 replies)

... That sounds like the same definition of the micro-disctectomy which was performed on me. I am by no means a medical professional, and for all I know this is actually the same or similar surgeries! The micro-disctectomy surgery performed on me was intended to remove the portion of my L4/L5 bulging disc (left). The surgery itself in my opinion was no big deal. I actually... (7 replies)
... Hello I also have groin pain in my left testicle. This is because of a ligament in my back that is irritated because of my back problems. Before I had my 2nd back surgery (a disctectomy of L5-S1) I went to a urologist because of the pain in my left testicle. He could find nothing wrong. When I went in for my 3rd back surgery (fusion of L5-S1 with hardware) I asked the... (7 replies)
... Welcome to Healthboards. I would appreciate any thoughts on this of how severe this is or if this is a normal typical extrusion that can be fixed with some type of surgery? Let me answer your question by reframing it slightly. The fact that you are getting in so soon to see the neurosurgeon indicates that the disc extrusion and resulting nerve compression is... ... I had a laminotomy/disctectomy at the L4-L5 two and a half months. I had symptoms (ongoing leg pain up and down the nerve on my right leg) for about 2 years prior to surgery. Before undergoing the surgery I had 3 epidurals, physical therapy, and acupuntucture. The pain just kept returning. Since the surgery, I have had recurring pain, most likely because I overdo it as I try... (4 replies)

... I'd like to thank you all once again. It is very helpful to get information from people who truly understand! Meghan - According to my surgeon, since my sciatica and the other "weird" symptoms of nerve impingement (tingling feet, shooting right leg pain, etc) comes and goes his opinion is that I am not currently risking permanent nerve damage yet. Of course, based upon my... (27 replies)

... Hi all, I haven't been on the board in a while. My back problems go back 30 years. I have 4 lumbar surgeries and 1 cervical surgery. I just had a laminectomy at L4-5 on March 4th. On May 23rd I was involved in an auto accident. I was hit at about 30 to 35 mph in the drivers side front. I went to the E.R.. They did an mri of my neck and films of my lumbar to make sure the... ... Hi. I can relate to all of the above. My doctor is under investigation for fraud and taking kickbacks. He cared more about lining his pockets than he did about his patients. I agree with you and taking it day by day is right. I can't do much of anything anymore. I have serious nerve damage from all the manipulation and I have trouble severely just trying to pick up my new... (15 replies)
... Hello Oddie, I have a bulging disc too. Mine is at L4. I have also had a fusion at L5-S1. So I try to keep an eye on L4 because the levels above and below a fusion have alot more stress put on them because of the fusion. You did not say what level it is at and if you have been to a spine specialist. I am in no way an expert on this. I can only tell you what has happened to... (2 replies)
... Hello Benny 6057  I had my fusion in 2003. It was L5-S1 with hardware. I used my own bone. I just had a ACDF on C5-6, C6-7 and I used my own bone too. The reason I used my own bone was I do not trust these bone banks. They just had a big arrest up in New York city with funeral directors selling corpses bones and other body parts for profit!! They were not even testing... (15 replies)

In your post you did not indicate where your pain is located and how bad is your pain. The one thing I can tell you and there is a post for this is if you see a Doctor make sure he is a spine specialist. Make sure whether he is... (1 replies)
