Back pain meds??
Aug 15, 2003
... Hi rlcowboy! Too bad the doc didn't do the discogram before the surgery as mentioned in the other post. But...can't do anything about that now. As for epidurals? That might buy you some comfort until (or if) you have your next surgery. They work very well for some people. Helps get the inflammation down which, in theory, relieves the pain. I had 3 esi's that Did NOT... (3 replies)
... HI rlcowboy! Sorry you suffered so much yesterday. :( Typically, they try to do the discs they Think are bad, and one they feel is Not bad so to have one to compare to. You said all hurt. But, did they All Replicate your pain? That's what they're used for. To be sure that your pain is 'discogenic' and which discs are the Cause of your Typical pain. Did they say anything... (4 replies)

... Hi Katt! Sorry about your back giving you problems....but, you've come to the right place! You mention the spasms in T area. I have that, too - and it has little to do w/ that area. On MRI - I have 'straightening of normal lumbar lordosis' - straight back. Good - I thought. WRONG. Doc said back is in major spasm. He said... (3 replies)
... Dear Anne.... I am So sorry for your loss. I have 3 sisters and had one brother. He passed when I was 14, he was 18. I, too, Know that the good Lord knew what was best....but, it did little to calm my grieving when I was so young. Now, I understand that it was His will and it was Christopher's time. It never ceases to amaze me that He knows just what to do....when to do... (8 replies)
... Hi Colleen! That Is strange. But, it doesn't mean it ain't happenin'! If my docs would have listened to me almost 3 yrs ago... maybe they would have been able to take care of this tailbone thing ALOT sooner and saved me lots of money/time & Pain. Don't give up. That's the best I can tell you. What kind of docs dismissed you? Good luck! :) (3 replies)
... Hey there, tennisnut! Just wondering how you're making out since you last posted? You were starting some therapy, if I'm not mistaken...after having seen Dr. Saal? Hope you're feeling better and too busy to check in much. You are so thorough in your research about your problems, that it helped many people going through the same things make informed decisions for... (0 replies)
... Hi Traidey! Sorry to hear about your problems! This thing called pain gets the better of the best of us, that's for sure! I've had the discogram.....but, never Nucleoplasty. BTW Nucleo is considered minimally invasive surgery... so, you should be well sedated - unlike the discogram, which is done to provoke your pain, letting the docs know that your pain IS... ... Hi Lisa! I'm happy that you have new meds that might help w/ the anxiety! My sister takes Klonapin for anxiety in addition to a 'coctail' of anti-d's for clinical depression. She swears by it! The great thing about it is that, if you're close to an anxiet attack? It kicks in pretty quickly, or so she's said. I used to take Ativan for anxiety....and she's taken both.... (11 replies)
... Hi Stillwater! You are looking for more 'conservative' treatments? Have you been to a Pain Management Doctor yet? The one I go to is affiliated w/ the Cleveland Clinic and offers: biofeedback, accupuncture, opiod therapy, ESI's, music therapy and there are more. :) Perhaps that is something you could look into and stave off the surgery decision if that's what you choose. ... ... Hi Christina, Baxter & Lisa! Well, Christina that will Rock if they find your problem w/ this... but, waiting 12 stinking days? God, how I hate to wait. If it were me being the doc.... I'd be jumping through hoops to get us the answers faster. It just seems pure mean, ya know? Baxter... can't stand myself either some days. Like when my meds were increasing... (15 replies)

... Hi 2isenough! What you are describing doesn't sound like neck issue to me. It sounds like lower....possibly sciatica? or at the least, some nerve involvement if there's tingling. I would suggest calling your doc that did surgery and bouncing it off of him/her. Better safe than sorry. It c/b something as simple as 'you're doing something new in PT that you're body hasn't... ... Hi Lisa! I couldn't remember which thread I was in when that was happening earlier. Well... THank Goodness the doctor Called me back!!!! NOT  I still have numb toes...and spasm in back (after taking flexeril). I laid down after I'd called the Clinic...and it seemed to ease up a bit. I was lucky - both my girls took a nice... ... Ok thank u so much. Yes I am pretty desperate for some kind of relief. I just don't think I can emotionally handle another open back surgery. It's such a long recovery. I go to my Dr next wk so he will talk to me and refer me to the surgeon who does the minimally invasive one. (4 replies)
