... Hi TOO! I swear I posted to this...and you responded. Maybe I'm losing my mind quicker than I thought? ;) It is a diagnostic test that provokes the pain...trying to replicate your 'every day' pain - in order to see if one of your discs is causing your pain - or is 'discogenic.' The number of discs you have done will affect pain level. The more discs, the... (3 replies)
... Jlane...hello. I am so sorry to hear what a nightmare your first pm doc was!!! He truly s/b sued for negligence! That was outright horrible what that office put you through! I am from the Cleveland area - so see a PM Doc in Mayfield. It sounds like you may have found a good doc now. Thank goodness. Have you had an MRI yet? I know you said you had the EMG. What is... ... hi Too! and welcome! I have had a discogram (or provactive discography) done on 5/9/03. It is supposed to be painful if your disc is the thing that is causing the pain. I believe mine was a false negative...due to oversedation. remains one of the best (in my opinion) diagnostic tools for dx'ing the cause of back pain. Especially if there's a tear that isn't... Posting For Wife

... Hi Tony  So sweet of you to be in this with your wife. She's lucky that you are truly 'going thru this' with her. That said...I think that an MRI w/b a good 'next step'. Do you have insurance? If not, many times docs/hospitals will have a lower charge than they charge the insurance companies. An MRI would probably cast... (13 replies)
... Johnny, I read thru your signature, and don't see where they ever did a discogram. Is that right? I do see, however, that you had 'herniattion @ L4-L5'. You could have had the tear then. I would ask about this as the tear could be leaking onto nerve and causing alot of your pain. The contents of the disc is caustic to the nerves and can cause severe pain. I have tear - so I... ... Hi there! What kind of doc are you seeing? When did doc order xrays? What further tx have they suggested? You probably need to get an MRI. That would be the next logical step. Let us know what you decide! :) Good luck! Karen (3 replies)
... Linda, jdlmc.... how are you? Are you still lurking? Just wondering how you're making out w/ all the 'stuff' going on? Are your meds still making you more comfortable? How'd you make out on the w/c thing for meds? Knew you were going....just don't remember if you told me what happened. Hope you are doing ok. Please let us know, k?... (11 replies)
... Hi Isillyme! Oct 9th, huh? I can't remember exactly what your situation is....but, I'm certain you've run the gamut of testing. Hard to believe in a little over a month, you'll have a 'new disc'! I look forward to following your progress. I believe there are more artificial disc people on the board. Seems there was a thread dedicated to it....although I... (4 replies)

... Hi daubie! So good to hear you're doing well. That's Awesome whenever I see that someone is benefiting from the surgery decision! I am still benefitting from the Caudals on 7/28 & 8/12. Hopefully, the coccygeal manipulations have moved my tailbone enough so that, when the steroids wear off...I'll still be more comfortable sitting. Cross your fingers! :) As for... (10 replies)
... Hi Stillwater! Just wanted to pop in and wish you luck w/ your decision. Sounds like you're going to go for it. I guess sometimes our bodies take decisions like this out of our hands. I know that long term nerve damage w/b the deciding factor on surgical intervention for me. When do you see doc next? Keep us posted ... (10 replies)

Just trying to get it straight since we have some similar nerve issues, I think. I will be watching this carefully and saying prayers for a surgery success for you! ... Hi Kyle  Sorry I'm not going to be more help in the medical arena here as I don't really have those types of answers. But, I wanted to offer my support while you try to figure this out. I think you'd be wise to keep at them for answers. Ask to have blood panel run. That w/b a start. The odd thing w/ back problems is that you can have the strangest pains/numbness... (8 replies)
... Kali and Telzey...hope you don't mind me butting in. :) I have a question about your tear, Kali. You mention the doc wants to do repeat discogram bcuz of tear may be so big. I am very interested in how you proceed. My tear is @ L4...discogram on 5/9 Did NOT replicate pain (I was in tears) but, my regular PM doc said he was surprised bcuz it was a significant leak onto... ... Hi Cindy! Saw your question to me in Wazari's thread and thought it w/b good by itself! My PM Doc has mentioned IDET. If I'd never read anything about it on these boards, I probably would have said "ok" w/out thinking twice. BUT... I am very leary about it for a number of reasons, the biggest one being that the recovery time is very restricted and long - and I... (2 replies)
