... The main thing to remember is that this is major surgery and is very different that the previous laminectomy and discectomy surgeries had in the past, but that is likely because of the large hip incision that goes along with it. ... (6 replies)

... It's been nearly three months (12 weeks) since my lami discectomy for a herniated disc L3/L4. I am going back in for a check-up in two days. I still have the severe sciatic pain in my glute, still running down my leg and sharp pain in my toes. I have been on Gabapentine for the last month, not much help or noticable relief. ... I am really confused---can anyone tell me the difference between a microdisectomy and a endoscopic discectomy, which I am scheuduled for surgery on Dec 12th. I am really having 2nd thoughts about the endoscopic procedure because I cant find too many people who have had it done to share their experience and it seems like the microdisectomy is more popular. I have herniation... (5 replies)
... I have a hernation directly above my old fusion l4-l5-s1. The herniation is at L3-L4. The doctor would fuse that level as well if my leg symptoms matched the herniation. I have to have further nerve tests. My question is have any of you heard of doing a simple disc removal rather than fusion over a two level fusion. I just wonder if I can have a simple microdiscectiomy... (1 replies)
... Hello, This is my first post on this site. I'm at a point where I have to decide between surgery or trying to rough it out for a bit longer. I have two bulging discs: L5-S1 and L4-L5. L3-L4 is also bulging but very slightly. Discs also show some degeneration and loss of height. Plus when they did the MRI they found that I had congenital stenosis. I have been living... (3 replies)

... Yes psuedoarthrosis is what they call my existing fusion as well. Backhurtz did you get better after your revision/ second fusion? I am scared to death as I have also had a rotten couple of years, but having another fusion is like my best chance at ever being pain free, or at least mostly pain free, which is all I guess I can hope for at this point. Other levels of my... (15 replies)

... Aloha all, I can relate to the anxiety, but not the micro-discectomy as I opted for the full on fusion. Everyone is different, but I think there is one common thread that everyone who has had a successful back surgery has, and that is a positive attitude.
