... Hi Al. I can certainly understand why you are worried. You are very young to have bulging discs. Can I ask what kind of dr. you saw who ordered the MRI? Did he have any suggestions for you? Did he prescribe any kind of treatment? If the dr. was not an orthopedic or a neurosurgeon, then you might need to see one of them in order to be referred for proper treatment which I will... ... Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't been able to login for a while. My surgery was posted from 2/17 to 3/10, as one of my surgeon's had another patient emergency. So, I was released from the hospital yesterday. The first few days post-op were HELL. First off, they only ended up fusing L4-S1, and they put a "hinge" joint at the L3-L4. They said that would give me the... (12 replies)
... I kinda feel since I don't have 2 levels fused together and since one isn't "anchored" to the S1 area, that I'm sort of floating and it feels rather weak up there. Not sure if this makes sense... ... (9 replies)
... XLIF CANNOT be done at the L5-S1 level because there is no access to the area due to the hip being in the way. That is why he suggested the PLIF for you at L5-S1 and the XLIF for the L4-5. Hope this helps you understand why he is doing two different procedures. Good Luck with your surgery. I saw a spine specialist 2/8/13 for a second opinion regarding my severe... (22 replies)

It's 'home' for all micro-d's (L3,L4,L5,S1,etc). Not required, but it helps to feel more at home there if you are a bit paranoid & just generally crazy. lol :D - just kidding there . . I think! ;) Lauren,... (32 replies)

I have recently had extensive surgery which has required relatively sedentary existence but it's all worth it to have the pain at L3-L4 is gone (vertebrae... (26 replies)

... Seven years ago I had L5-S1 successfully fused, one year late I had L4-L5 sucessfully fused. Things have been going well enough since my two surgerys, but now I am getting left leg calf numbness and both of my feet are numb.
