... Hi stpatsangel and welcome to the board  I am with you on this one.As Lori said you might read the other threads she mentioned. I have problems with all 3 areas of my back. Also buldging discs and... (37 replies)
... Hi everyone, I turned to this board for some comfort. I have been dealing with back pain for 5 years now. I am 24 years old and have just recently been referred to a new doc for a fusion after a very poor outcome with 4 epidurals (the last one just yesterday), many meds, and 2 rounds of physical therapy. I have L4-5 and L5-S1 disc disease and bilateral lumbar spondylosis. ... (15 replies)

... :) I read the dx of what the new doc thinks, and he says I have cervical spondylosis. I am thinking he may lean towards surgery since I have been having symptoms for over two months, and after therapy, meds, and rest it isn't getting better. But he wants to do all these tests I guess to be sure that I am actually a candidate. I don't know about my low back at this time.... (6 replies)

Steriod Injections

... Hey there. :) I've had 2 epidurals in the past for my back (spondylosis of L5-S1) and I believe what they actually injected was Cortizone. I may be wrong though, but that's what I think it was. Anyway, neither epidural worked for me at all, but I hope that it will work for you if you do decide to go down that road. Best of luck! (22 replies)
... Hey Diann. I'm not waiting for a fusion but I understand your frustration to an extent. My insurance company takes FOREVER to process my referrals, usually around 4 weeks per each one. I've had an on-going problem with L5-S1 (spondylosis) for over a year and I'm just 18, and still not any better. My ortho mentioned a fusion for me but he and my mom are weary because of my age... ... My doctor implies that I'm too young for a fusion (I just turned 18) on L5-S1 (spondylosis w/ pain down the left leg to the calf), but he won't give me any meds stronger than Percs, and I stopped taking them because they only give me a mental buzz and don't do anything for me physically. I know he CAN give me Oxy, but he won't. GRR. Now I'm not some pill-poppin' teen, but it's... (32 replies)

... Lumbar Spine W/O contrast...Lower back. At the L4-5 interspace, there is mild hypertrophic lipping involving the apophyseal joints with hypertrophy of the ligamentum flavum. There is minimal encroachment on the Lumbar spinal canal. No disk protrutions or herniations are seen at this level. At the L5-S1 level, similar changes are present to the findings at the L4-5... ... Sorry for being unclear....I have spondylolisthesis. I had the IDET on Jan 23 this year. Recovery for me was difficult the first 10 days, but after that not so bad. The actual procedure hurt more than I expected, but no where near the discography, if you've had one of those. I started physical therapy 5 weeks ago, but I haven't noticed any improvement. If anything, the... (8 replies)
... Hello Ladywolf! I told my Dr. straight out that darvaset didn't do any good. He put me on motrin 800 which some-what helped. Only problem there, was the fact that I had to take 5 of them/ day (4000mg). The script was only for 2/ day. He reset my script for flexirill and that's a little better. I don't want to go on the roller-coaster ride of opiats again. I used to do them... (15 replies)
... I have been having left buttock and thigh (hamstring) pain since Aug. 2003 and have great difficulty sitting and driving, but walking and standing are fine. I've tried many things and the best I can do is get the pain to a tolerable level during the day (yeah!) but the first hours in the morning are H***! Stiff and barely able to walk. Diagnosis is DDD w/annular tear, small... (16 replies)
... ports medicine etc. We told him what the nurse at my docs office had said. He was appalled and said I needed injections immediately that I had a pinched nerve at L5 and had major nerve damage in my right leg which would explain why I was falling unexpectedly. ... (10 replies)
... What do you do when you are in pain and you can't get past a receptionist? Don't the patients have some kind of rights, especially post operatively? I've been in pain for over a week now and all the nurse offered me was a Medrol pack, which I took but didn't help, and when I called back to say I was still having problems, the nurse got real snotty with me. She finally offered... (11 replies)

I am ever so grateful to all of you for sharing all of your experiences.
