I had a medial facectomy/discectomy/partial laminectomy and I am pretty good except for the occasional zinging pain...but I am back playing golf and basketball along with lifting weights etc. I also have a weird pop but that is about it. ... ha - I thought I understood all this until now... here's my tongue-in-cheek attempt of an explanation...(bear in mind, like Yvette, I've had far too much time on my hands)... discectomy - they cut away a portion of the disc. So for a "simple" herniated disc, they clear away the herniated part. They can do a microdiscectomy, or alternatively may do a laminectectomy or... (10 replies)

... OK, I went back and read through some of the older threads...and I remember your case and how surprised I was that anyone would do laminectomies at so many levels without fusion. Obviously, I am not a doctor...but I have never read or heard that one can have more than two levels done without making the spine unstable. It sounds like you still have some nerve... (4 replies)
