... I have read so many horror stories on these boards about the experience of spinal fusion and wanted to share my story. I am 3 weeks post op and the procedure has thus far been a huge success. I am feeling a 100% better than before the surgery and although there is post op soreness it is NOTHING like I read nor feared. I was up walking 45 minutes after returning from my... (3 replies)
... Welcome to the board. Sorry no one responded to you sooner. I guess you are a trail blazer in having the Dekompressor procedure, at least among our active members. How are you feeling by now? Have things continued to improve? In general, it is still early in recovery. It is way too early to start feeling pessimistic! Just continue following your doctor's... (3 replies)

... Sorry, I forgot to mention, it is L5-S1 and it was done on both sides so both sciatic nerves were involved. I will continue with the walker but I do feel I am getting a bit stronger each day. Last night I started practicing walking with just pushing on my husband's finger tips. It was good for about 10 steps then I started to really tighten up in my back again and went back to... ... Also, if you can, set up things that you can look forward to during your recovery!!! It made a huge difference to have things to look forward to. For example, I'd recorded the season finales of all of my favorite shows and saved them just for that weekend. My amazing hubby's birthday was the day after my surgery. Instead of the long birthday weekend exploring the coast... (14 replies)

... I would suggest you return to your surgeon and ask him what is causing this weakness to continue and worsen post surgery. It might be too early in recovery for it to be better, but if the surgeon decompressed the right nerve, the weakness should not be getting worse. ... (7 replies)

... burbmama, There are some great post-op tips at the top of this board as a sticky thread. Be sure to review them as there are some great ideas there! I hope your surgery goes well and that you have an easy recovery. The first 2-3 months are the most critical in your recovery. Be sure to walk, walk, walk during that time to get your blood flowing, and don't bend, lift... (4 replies)

I have been doing minimal activity, sitting, lying, bits of housework, walking around garden, minimal driving, but am frustrated that the pain in my left leg when walking is 8-9. I would be happy to get responses from others who are post disc nucleoplasty (3 replies)
