Linda and Abbey,
Did you try the mineral veil along with the Bare Minerals foundation? I have large pores also, and I have found that after appying the foundation, if I go over my whole face with the mineral veil, and then take a small brush and go over where my large pores are on and around my nose), it makes them virtually invisable!
I didn't like Bare Minerals either - and I tried the Mineral Veil, too. It was just too shiny for my taste & seemed to accentuate all the lines & pores. It's the bismuth oxychloride (which can also cause irritation & itching) - because when I use mineral makeup that doesn't contain bismuth, it looks fine.

I love the versatility of mineral makeup - and those with drier skin or who want a dewy look can always add a little of the powder to their moisturizer & then apply.

My personal favorites are Aromaleigh & Botany 101. Geografx is okay, as is Youngblood - although I had a difficult time finding a match with Youngblood. I really don't like Cory or Bare Minerals at all.

Hi there Blue/Hi Kayley!

Blue, I keep hearing so many good things about Aromaleigh. I've gone to the website and may order some samples to see what it's all about. Does it cause a problem with enlarged pores? I've never heard of Botany 101. That's mineral makeup, too? So many people love the mineral makeup and I get so frustrated with the way it looks on me. The concept is wonderful. I'm still willing to try some others but so far the BE was a major disappointment. Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it and will probably give Aromaleigh a try when I run out of Origin, just to see. At least I can get samples which really helps. Thanks!

Kayley, yes I did use the Mineral Veil with the BE. I kinda know what you're talking about as far as it making the pores a little smaller. It just didn't do enough to make me happy with the end result. And like Abbey said, the other problem is the very dry skin I had and the minerals just seemed to settle in every darn one of my dry patches. Of course, for you and me, our skin is becoming so behaved and "normal" with the Denese products, I'm wondering if maybe I can try the minerals again. I won't be happy til I do try it. UGH!

Thanks so much for the great info. The mineral makeup really is a revolutionary approach and I still feel that it's definitely filled a void in foundation makeup. I won't give up quite yet! Love, Linda :D

I think AL covers pores well - if you decide to order samples get a sample of the Porcelaine, too. Because you have dry skin, you'll want to use it very sparingly, but a very light dusting over the areas with the large pores will help cover them. Also, there are 2 types of foundation - one is Pure Powder & is very sheer; the other is Pure Cover and that is heavier. I suggest you get some of each because most people use some of each. And as I suggested before - you can always add the minerals to your moisturizer. The application technique makes a difference, too. A kabuki brush will give heavier coverage - as will a flocked sponge. You can also use a flocked sponge to *smooth over* the area with large pores - it will help hide them, too.

Botany 101 is another mineral makeup company - and I really like the foundation, but the biggest problem with this one is the wait time. You place an order (by mail or phone) and then they take your payment, but you don't get your order for about 6-8 weeks! That bugs me a lot! :) AL sends out your order within 2-4 days & you have it in less than a week.

I was thinking about other ways to combat the large pores & dry skin. I can't remember if you mentioned your skincare routine or not. Do you exfoliate at all - with home microdermabrasion or a BHA or AHA product? I've found that since I started doing home microdermabrasion & glycolic acid peels that my pores appear much smaller & I have no blackheads at all. Plus it also helps get rid of any flakes of dry skin. Another thing that I think works wonders is jojoba oil - it really balances the skin whether it is oily or dry - and it also will help keep pores clear. So those are some things you may want to consider in addition to your makeup.
