I have this bottle of Clairol Professional "Pure White 40 Maximum Lift". I'm assuming it is used to lighten hair. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have blonde hair and wanted to add some platinum highlights into it. So, how do i use it?

It is only the developer, you need a bleach to mix it with.
40 vol is high volume and shouldnt be used on the scalp but is usually ok for highlights depending on your hair and what is currently on it. With hair already colored I wouldnt use that high a volume. Anyone who does their own highlights I generally say stick with 20 volume till you have some experience doing your own at home.
Thanks. No wonder NOTHING happened when i tested some on a lock of hair. :p
If you already have blonde hair, get a cap, soem bw2 and 20 volume from a supply store. Pull the hair through the cap and apply the mixture (should resemble thick whipped cream) and wrap in plastic wrap to keep heat in until you get a nice pale yellow color when you wipe off the bleach to check. There are some great web sites out there to help you with going blonde-just do a search with blonde or going blonde as the keywords. Hope this helps. :)
