I realize you have had bad experiences with Clinique, but I was wondering if you had tried their Superfit makeup. It is by far my favorite. I just use a little at a time combined with a slightly lighter concealer under my eyes and set with Loreal Hydra Perfect powder, and it makes my skin look flawless. It is about $20 and lasts a lasts awhile. I also think it has a lot to do with the moisturizer you use. I am in LOVE with Estee Lauder HydraComplete moisturizer! It is simply amazing!!!
I'm a 48 yr old woman with dry fair skin with a few wrinkles and broken capillaries. My all time favorite foundation is merle norman luxiva sheer defense tinted moisturizer. It covers my flaws and looks very natural.
I am a HUGE fan of Dior eyeshadow. I use Brun Casual. It has golds & browns. Very nice for ppl with Brown hair. As for mascara, I just use whatever is cheep!!!
I use prescriptives foundation (1 in the winter & 2 in the summer) Works well, light, doesn't look cakey. However, I do not use powder. If you are looking for Glow, I think Benefit Highbeam works great, Even with darker skin. I just mix it with my moisturizer in the morning. For my brows, I use smashbox Brow Tech. This stuff works great. it has a wax, & a powder. I kinda mix the two on my brow brush (it came with the fix I got a few months ago). Makes them look great. I hope this helps, Kiesha
I am 38 and I've found that the best "make up" is skin care. No make-up is going to look flawless (or even good) on dry, dehydrated, irritated skin. So, first thing's first. You need a gentle effective *moisturizing* cleanser. Aveeno makes some good ones. Secondly, don't ever use a toner. You don't need it. To exfoliate, I would use twice weekly a mask made with table sugar and water, leave it on for 30 minutes and rinse. Don't scrub, just rinse. I highly reccmmend Cell Ex C or Skin Ceuticals vitamin C serum for daily use. At night, you need a good moisturizer. Cetaphil is cheap and effective. For a daily moisturizer, I recommend something with an SPF of at least 15. The whole Aveeno Postively radiant is a great line and makes a great moisturizer with skin brighteners and SPF. Once your skin is hydrated, smoother, brighter and tighter, your make up routine is simple. Put foundation only where you need it on moisterized skin, and blend carefully. Use a good concealer for spot coverage. Use the natural light (i.e, sun light) to see how the makeup looks, blend as needed. Skip powder. Instead, carry face blotting papers. Don't rely on just foundation to make your skin look pretty, a good, well blended blush can really wake up your skin, give you a healthy glow, and distract from small imperfections as can subtle lip color and a little eye color.
I agree with all of those here saying not to use face powder. I quit using it years ago when I was a teenager with horribly oily skin. I made the surface of my skin all dry and flaky, yet I was still oily.

There are oil obsorbing things you can put on your face instead. Neutrogena had a gel, but I haven't seen it in a while. There was also a clearasil oil absorbing moisturizer which I loved, but they seem to have discontinued the whole line. I use one by biore now, but don't like it as much as the clearasil.
" I feel insecure like people might see my real skin." BoardBabe, you have to know that you aren't fooling anyone with all that make-up caked up on your face. There are lots of new items for your face that can help you with your scars, and your light skin. They have great products with higher spf for ppl like you & me( I have addisons, it makes your skin really dark. Now that I am on meds, I have really light skin  ). I looked on and found that Peter Thomas Roth "Max Sheer Daily Defense Moisture Lotion - SPF 30" would be great for ppl like us to use. Has a higher spf & Moisturizer in one. I haven't tried this product, or any of his products, so I don't know if they make your face feel "gross". And other thing, no one has "perfect" skin. You just have to know how to work what ya got!!! Ppl are willing to help you, you just have to let them!-Kiesha
