My natural hair color is Light Brown. I have very fair skin, and occasionally I'll get honey-colored high-lights. I personally think I look better with that honey color blonde...but I'm wondering what you think is good for fair skin. I'm not one of those people who are dying to be blonde because men "prefer blondes" lol, I happen to think brunette hair is sexy  haha, and that's been a fad lately, all these girls dying their hair various shades of brown.

I'm thinking I could swing either way, I could go darker, but I'm afraid of looking sick, I mean, I'm white with pink undertones, you don't even understand  but I could go lighter, and I've already found it doesn't look bad.

I want to see what you ladies think about pale women and brown hair!
hi! :) I am a brunette (dark, long brown hair) and my skin is fair also! And I love the way I look! And I don't mean that in a conceited way, but I like what I see when I look in the mirror! As far as men loving blondes? Believe it or not, most guys that I've known over the course of my life prefer brunettes! There's just something mysterious about a woman with beautiful dark hair! Of course, it's a matter of preference. Some men do like blondes and that's fine! But I would never change my haircolor for anyone but me! After all, you are the one who has to walk around with your hair everyday! It has to be what makes you comfortable! Also, a lot of women look way too "washed out" with bleached blonde hair! And it looks absolutely horrible when dark roots start to show! A lot to consider, but if you decide to go lighter, you may want to consult with a professional colorist first. That way, you are more likely to end up with a color you really love!
Oh yeah, the bleach blonde hair
Wayyy too light. The blonde I've been is fairly dark, not Barbie blonde or anything like that.

I would never do anything to myself for anyone, and I'd like one of the two, I think both of them look great.

I could always dye my hair a darker shade of brown, one of those temporary dyes, lol. I'm still not gutsy enough! It may look wonderful, but I'm afraid of looking so much more extremely white!
I have medium brown hair and I am also pretty fair skinned. I do have some color to my skin, but very little. I wear one of the lightest shades of foundation. I hated having really blonde hair! It definately wasn't the best look for my coloring. I prefer darker colors and some with a little red.
I think that it depends on the person, facial features, style of dress, etc.
Ive died my hair dark brown before and I didnt like it, what I would do if I did it again is get it done by a professional and then you may have to wear darker eyebrow pencil to make it look like its your color but not too dark.
I'm similar coloring! My hair is naturally a medium brown.. and I have been experimenting with it these past few years. Last year I dyed it dark brown and I LOVED the color. It made my hair really shiny and healthy and I got a lot of compliments. I think it can make you look more pale if you go too dark though! I did get a tan that year so the darker skin AND hair looked great together.

After that I highlighted it blonde.. and throughout the year my hair eventually was all blondish. I liked it, but I think I needed to get it a lighter blonde for it to look good with my skin as I lost my tan. When I was tan, it looked really great with the golden blonde color. I was never as blonde as people like Paris Hilton or anything.. more like Jennifer Anniston when hers was lighter, but a tiny lighter than that.

I would have to see you in person, but I think for myself I look good with some blonde highlights, but still with some darker parts in it so it doens't look dull.. it needs the contrast. I think if I were to go all blonde, a more cool blonde/platinum color would look nicer (if only it wasn't so damaging!). A friend of mine went from brown to blonde also and hers looks really nice!

I'd go for whatever you think looks good! It is the summertime, and it's a good time to go lighter. You can always do it darker again in the fall or winter.. or next year or something! I always look foward to getting my highlights done and getting my hair lighter!
I'm very pale with med. brown hair & blue eyes. I colored my hair very dark brown once because I think it looks really cool with the contrast of the blue eyes. I found that I had to wear more makeup to pull off that look though.

I have had my hair pretty much every color except all-over blonde. I think that would wash me out. My favorites are reds, but they are high-maintenance. I'm trying to stick with a color close to my roots now - and that color is getting lighter because I'm getting more gray...
I agree with Jelohi, with some colorings I think overall blonde can make you look washed out.. it kind of did that to me. I've been using self tanner though, so I think it works that way. Some people can pull it off though with light skin.. I guess it depends on your exact coloring. I felt that with lighter hair I had to wear more makeup to brighten up my face.. but I loved the color.
My natural color is a light mousy brown and I have very pale skin with brown eyes. The lightest foundation is almost too dark on my skin. Last month I dyed my hair dark brown that looks shiny with natural highlights and I've never gotten more compliments. I used to have blond highlights in the light brown hair and I looked washed out. Now, I feel more exotic (I'm not, but I feel much better about myself when I look in the mirror).

Oh wow, you sound like me! Cover girl's lightest shade is too dark, Almay's lightest shade is too dark, it's so annoying! I'm Alabaster in Loreal True Match, haha. I think that's the lightest they have. I may try dark brown.

What do you exactly consider 'washed out'?
After reading all of these posts, I can't wait to dye my hair dark brown in the fall! Mine is currently highlighted, but I've been using self tanner so I won't look washed out. To me, washed out just makes me look pale in a bad way.. like plain and my skin looks dull.
I think I may try dark brown. I kind of thought THAT would wash you out, just the intense contrast between pale and dark.
My hair is the darkest shade of brown before being black. My skin is pretty fair and I have blue eyes. I love this color on me as does everyone else that knows me. I have been every color under the sun and this one suits me the best. Ironically, being blond in the winter made me look washed out - I did not like it AT ALL with my fair skin. The darker hair is a great contrast:cool:
My hair was, (I say that, because now, it's nearly half WHITE!) dark brown also, and I have dark blue eyes and VERY pale skin that I try to keep from seing the light of day...already been sun-damaged from when I was younger, though. People always ask if I have blue contacts. lo.
I've had EVERY color, even platinum and what I've found is that I look best with extreme colors. Black wasn't good, though- too harsh with my features, not really because of my coloring.
But platinum, fire engine red, dark auburn and my natural color, even salt & pepper, look best. I had 'yellow' blonde...didn't look great, but not bad. Men treated me like a bimbo, though, it was weird. I've had light red, and I looked REALLY washed out with that...
