Green tinted concealers and moisturisers are supposed to counteract REDNESS in the skin and blue/purple ones are supposed to counteract a SALLOW (yellowish) complexion. If you are going to try them, be sure to use them sparingly and apply them in a naturally lit environment - so you don't accidently use too much! Also, let the product DRY (if it is liquid/creamy) before applying any foundation or face powder on top. I have found the green coloured products okay for countercting the redness of broken capillaries on my cheeks but not really great for specific blemishes - Dermablend concealer is the best for both however!! A superior product - it stays put!

Before I discovered Dermablend, I used to use very small amounts of calamine lotion on red areas that needed toning down - esp. spots! Apply the calamine lotion with a cotton bud. Let it ALMOST dry and then press face powder over the area. This is especially good for covering (hiding) spots on shoulders/upper back if you are wearing a strappy dress or top.

Hope this helps!
