Bipolar Disorder Board Index

Hi, hope you're doing well. I've used Lexapro, which I'm currently on and it works pretty well. Also Seroquel, Lamictal, Abilify, Depakote, Effexor, Neurontin, Nortryptiline, Paxil, Prozac, Remeron, Trazadone, Wellbutrin. I'm 41, and was dx'd when I was 20. I was on Lithium for the first 2 years, but also had problems with weight loss and some other side effects, so the med roller coaster began. I've used Lithium throughout the years when the BP got bad, or when I was in-patient. Sorry, my DX is BiPolar with Severe Suicidal Depression. I suffer more from the depression side of BiPolar than the manic side. So, back to the meds. The best results I've had with non-lithium drugs over the years would be Seroquel, Lexapro and Lamictal. Unfortunately I got the Lamictal Rash so had to stop taking that, the Seroquel my body just adapted to quickly and my dosage became to high, I was up to 1600 mg. a day when i switched off of it. The Lexapro I am on now and have been for about a year and a half, it works well. I also take clonodine, topomax, klonopin, vistaril and seraquel prn. I may not be the best case study because I have several other medical conditions and take premarin, singulair, mscontin, percocet, ambien cr, acyclivor, and B12 injections daily. But as far as the BiPoar goes it's pretty well under control at the time with the current med therapy. As for the price of the Lexapro, I'm not really sure, because I've always had insurance and not had to pay for it out of pocket. I do know that pharmacy's such as Rite Aid have programs you can enroll in for a very reduced cost. Unfortunately, I looked for you and none of the drugs are on Walmarts 4 dollar plan. Just a thought, but have you considered applying for medicaid?
