I just wanted to share my experience with Yaz with everyone since I've read so many negative responses on these forums. I was given samples of Yaz 6 weeks ago due to heavy bleeding and very painful cysts. I'm 33 yrs old and it was progressively getting worse. I haven't been on BC for probably 8 or 9 years. My doc told me to start the pill on a Sunday start - my period started on a Monday. By Sunday I had completed my period and started taking Yaz. (I believe this makes a difference when it comes to the stories of women who are bleeding for weeks with a day one start) I have been on Yaz for 3 1/2 weeks now - today being the first day of the placebo pills. (I have not started yet today.) During the first couple of weeks the worst problem I had was breast tenderness. I don't think they've gotten any bigger, but were sore for about a week or two. I have been taking the pill at night with dinner after reading others experiences. I don't feel fatigued; actually, I sleep wonderfully now! I have pretty high anxiety and this seems to help with my sleep. (and hasn't caused any panic attacks for me either - yeah!) I did have some nausea in the afternoons for a couple of weeks. Nothing severe, but noticeable. I haven't been cranky or needy, no bad skin issues, and I haven't gained any weight. I might have lost an inch or so, but I believe if I have it's b/c of the diuretic that's in the pill. I wouldn't count on weight loss; it could just be an added bonus.

I hope this helps!! I almost didn't start taking Yaz b/c of all the horror stories I read. I'm so thankful I went ahead and tried it! Normally, the first day of my period I would be laid up at home in severe pain - today I feel great. I'll let ya know if anything interesting happens now. Good luck everyone!
Just wanted to give an update. I started my period on Saturday, the morning of the 4th placebo pill day. Today is Wednesday and it hasn't stopped. But I wonder if it has anything to do with how bad they were getting before? I would normally still be having my period, but it's been HUGELY lighter with very mild cramping. So, I really don't mind that it hasn't as short as other women have reported. Maybe next month it will be less as my body adjusts to the pill? Maybe someone else has had a similiar experience?
I'm taking Yaz for PMDD and I'm in my third week. I've had some pretty substantial breakthough bleeding, and I'm a person that has taken other forms of BC for three years without and breakthough bleeding. I've noticed a much more even outlook on life. Less crying spells and mood swings, which is a total blessing. My boobs have totally swelled up and are very tender, but so far the good outweighs the bad. I'm pretty sure that mixing it with St. John's Wort decreases the effectiveness, but I'm going to ask my GYn about it. Does anyone know for sure?
