... Des, I too take the 20 Meq (800 mg.) potassium a day. It covers my potassium needs with Lasix. You might need 2 a day. But better, why not try getting off the thiazide diuretic? Are all your bouts of weakness traced to a blood test showing low serum potassium? What does your serum SODIUM look like at these times? Do you ever test NORMAL for potassium? ... (9 replies)

... Been there!!! I've been running for the past 3 years but have been on bp meds even longer! I recently switched from Atenolol to Lisinopril and now to Cozaar. I know what you mean about the Atenolol and exercise! Talk to your doctor about switching from a Beta Blocker (Atenolol) to an ACE Inhibitor (Lisinopril) or ARB (Cozaar).
