| With all due respect, blood in the stool needs to be seen by a doctor to rule out things that are serious. You may well have an internal hemmorhoid, but if it was me, I would be seen by a doctor to make that determination.
If it turns out to be an internal hemmorhoid, you might ask your doctor about how much fiber and water are appropriate. My Colon/Rectal Specialist says 20-35 grams of fiber, 8-10 glasses of water. You might consider using a fiber supplement such as Metamucil or Citrucel. You must not strain while on the toilet, that will only aggravate the hemmorhoids and it is not a good idea to sit for long periods of time or to sit on the toilet for a long time either. |
