I'd like to apologize in advance if i'm in the wrong place. This seems like such a big forum and I can't seem to find my problem anywhere. Has anyone ever moved their head so sudden that you get a "explosion" of pain at the base of your head? I've had this problem for about 10 years now and today it happened again my husband said it's just a pinched nerve but the pain subsides and leaves me with a dull ache for the rest of the day. Today it happened again so bad it seriously felt like someone shot me in the back of my head. When it happened the pain came from the cerebellum area
(I believe) on my left side. Like it felt almost like there was a cord on fire. Oh it hurt so bad. I haven't been to the doctor because the pain is gone within' seconds but today the pain is lingering. When I do go to the doctor i'd like to beable to at least give him a inkling of what it may be. Of course if it's normal I won't worry about it.

I also believe this may have something to do with this problem as well. Ever since I can remember I have always have a scab at the base of my head (inbetween the neck, right below the cerebellum?) It's not blood but a yellowish dried liquid. I hardly ever pick it but it is always there?

I hope I've posted this right and not broken any rules in doing it. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi. Have you had an MRI? The pain you describe is typical of Chiari I Malformation, which can only be detected on an MRI. It will show if your "tonsils" (in the cerebellum) are protruding into your spinal cord, restricting the flow of CSF flow.
