this explanation may be lengthy, so bear with me....

about 3 months ago i began having a strange clouded out of it type feeling. i would wake up with slight headaches and slight pressure behind my eyes and my eyes always feel very dry and sore. my body began just no feeling quite right, although i can't explain it and by the third day i started getting a burning sensation on the back of my neck at the base of my shoulders. after seeing the doctor i found that i was slightly anemic which the doctor chalked up to a virus and on my next blood test about two weeks later i was no longer anemic. the other symptoms continued and i began to get pressure at the back/base of my head accompanied by a feeling of being very out of it and in a dreamlike state. the best way i can describe part of the feeling was like my brain just felt like turning off, or a vacuum was sucking at the base of my brain. I also began to have unusual sensations in my lower abdomen and bladder area which in the course of a day or two began to feel like my entire abdomen was very swollen and anything i drank/ate went rigth through me. i was taken to the ER when i thought i was going to pass out from the feeling in my head, and they did a full blood panel, urine sample, stool sample and a chest x-ray but found nothing. the abdominal symptoms went away after a week but the headaches remained. I still didn't feel right and began to get burning/tingling/numbness in my arms. after seeing doctor no. 4 by this time he sent me for CT scan of my brain/sinuses, and when that turned up nothing and the symptoms worsened a head/neck MRI (ostensibly looking for MS) but turned up nothing. currently now, my headaches and out of it feeling have lessened, the burning in my arms has subsided but not in my neck/shoulders, and i get very strange sensations in my thighs, arms and back which are difficult to describe but feel like a restlessness, or electricity going through them which makes me want to either stretch my muscles or clench them constantly. my doctor has concluded that all of this is stress/anxiety related and i was on 10mg lexapro for a month and now finishing a month of 20mg lexapro, and he also concluded that the strange sensations were resltess leg syndrome. My symptoms have not subsided at all since beginnin the medication, and resltess leg syndrome doesn't seem exactly right because i get teh feeling all over my body and in no association with sleeping/inactivity. I plan to see a neurologist, but getting a referral is a bit tricky when my internist is convinced it is just stress and is on the verge of believing i am a headcase. can anyone help?

Steven
