Brain & Nervous System Disorders Board Index

Before I start, thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm twenty-three years old. For a few years I used to get these strange headaches that feel like a buble expanding on the front left side of my head. Once it expands a little it feels like there is a metal rod in the right side of my head. Kind of a solid pain, lightly throbbing. It comes out of nowhere. Usually it is just a startling pain that starts small and grows very quickly, within only two to four seconds. Sometimes it goes away quickly other times it stays for a few minutes. These headaches stopped occuring about a year and a half ago.

Today I was sitting at my computer and suddenly felt a little dizzy, like things were getting further away from me. My vision got a little wavy, like horizontal waves swishing down from above me. It only happen for about a thirty seconds to a minute and slowly went away in that time.

I did not have a headache at that time but later today I began getting those headaches. I have one now that is sort of persisting with ups and downs. It's been going on for quite a while now, maybe an hour.

Does anyone know what could be causing this and if it could be serious? If anyone wants more info I could go on.. I didn't want the post to be too long.
