Brain & Nervous System Disorders Message Board

Brain & Nervous System Disorders Board Index

I was here 4 years ago with the same problem.

I've made no progress with it. It's worse than ever.

How many here have it?

How many have it and figured out the cause?

Has anyone found a way to relieve it?

I totally forgot about this place in the meantime and recently posted on other health boards. I will try this place again, in hopes that someone knows SOMETHING that will help me, before my entire life becomes unmanageable in the longterm. Here's a post I wrote recently on another health forum:

------------------------------------------
I'm 27, male, with no diagnosable diseases. Recently I had a battery of blood work done (the usual, cholesterol, enzyme/vitamin levels, thyroid) and nothing abnormal was found. I have no history of neurological diseases in either side of my family. I do not have high blood pressure. I am very myopic however and I do have mild astigmatism.

About 3-4 years ago, after a prolonged episode of drug addiction, I experienced a feeling of "head pressure" that got steadily worse. That part may be important... it started off as tolerable, and over time, got worse and worse. It is now at an unbearable stage, and shows few signs of slowing down. It is almost a constant sensation--it can occur anywhere in or around my head, no preference for any side or area. It also extends into my neck (usually around the left side of my neck--I am concerned if the carotid artery could be involved.)

Much more alarmingly, along with the head pressure getting worse, other symptoms have slowly appeared.. few, if any, going away. Whatever new symptom crops up, seems to stay. These symptoms include:

- Lots of floaters in the eye, which may appear out of nowhere and change on the fly--tolerable, but very annoying
- Numbness/lessened of sensation on different areas of the body
- Visual problems, most noticeably (right now) is double vision, slight difficulty moving my eye muscles (seems to be tied in with head pressure)
- The double vision started 7-8 months ago, it just seems as if the "calibration" of my eyes is slightly off... hard to describe though.
- Muscle spasms/stiffness/postural problems, makes for awkward walking, but no actual problems with mobility. Could be partially due to sitting in front of a computer too long, lack of proper exercise, etc.
-Very stiff neck
-Snapping jaw, like it's out of alignment
-My constipation (always a problem) is out of control

The head pressure was the first symptom.

So, there are several aspects to this "thing" I have. I do have an anxiety disorder but low incidence of actual panic attacks. However, panic feelings can occasionally come from caffeine. Caffeine ingestion seems to cause occasional blurred vision and floaters, but not always. It has been often suggested that high anxiety could cause the symptoms I have, but I have doubts that anxiety could cause all of them, especially the "permanent" things I have now like double-vision and trouble with eye muscle movement.

I would be willing to provide further details, but this post is getting too long.

So, is anyone familiar with the head pressure at least, and found a way to relieve it?

Is anyone familiar with an "accompanying list of symptoms" similar to mine?

Needing help,
Bill Zenith

Bill,

Many people with Lyme's Disease present with similar symptoms. You might want to check out the Lyme's Boards.

i have some of your symptoms, plus something like double vision of nose(two shadows left and right of half nose, exactly what this dude says http://www.healthboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=730362 ).I have a preasure in my head like a rhythmic beating or pulse and this affects my eyes.i feel like my teeths are pushing each other(sory for my poor english vocabulary),i have a light pulse on the rest of my body too especially on stomache where i feel sometimes a strong rhythmic beating.i have been in many doctors(neuologists and ophthalmologists)and most of them didnt find anything from the tests(i have done a tomography of my back, neck, head).of course because i had double vision(only in some cases not always),i did a muscle surgey on left eye. After this i have been better for 4 months(vision only) but now when i started the university,i have again these two seperate nose shadows that are in front of my vision. Two weeks earlier i have visted an ruusian neurologist that lives here in greece and he looked at the tomography of my back.He told that the disc(the top part of skeleton)is blocking an arterial so mayby this causing the problem.he gave me some pills like neurozan, stugeron and told me to come after two weeks for report and to give me something more strong. After 4 years my life is a misery but i keep searching to find my health back.So its very nice to see that im not alone with unknown and rare health deseases. If you found any solution for your problem please post it.
