Study fatigue?
Oct 12, 2009
I am a student and I have a problem. When I study I start to get a burning sensation running down the middle of my brain. It seems to be getting worse with time. I used to be able to study for hours with no problem. Now an hour into studying the burning starts and I have a really hard time paying attention. If i keep pushing I get the sensation of someone flicking me in the side of the head. I went to the doctor and got tested for temporal artoritis, but it came back negative. The doctor said it is a wierd migrain variant, but the medicine he prescribed didn't help much. This is really effecting my ability to study, so I really need to find a way to make it stop. Any suggestions?

Other people who have posted about the "burning brain" talk about it burning on the back of their head and neck. Mine seems to originate right where the brain splits in the middle and then moves up across the top of my head. It manifests itself with a burning sensation accompanied by difficulty concentrating, headache, and finally a pulsating sensation as though someone were flicking me in the side of the head. One of the only ways to get the headache to calm down is to stick an ice pack on my head and avoid heavy concentration for a while. As far as scalp tenderness goes, I don't really have any. It all seems to be beneath the scalp.
