Brain & Nervous System Disorders Board Index

Hi everyone,

I have been reading on the forums for a while now, but this is my first post. I am hoping someone can help me or at least give me some ideas, I wasn't even sure where to post this since there is so much going on.

I am 29, female. Most of my problems started around spring last year. Only health issue I have had for many years- since my early teens- are headaches, but they were manageable until then. Said spring I started feeling really tired, sick and achy, like when you get the flu or a cold, so I wasn't thinking too much about it back then. Only it wouldn't go away, but the fatigue got worse and so did my headaches. They would happen more often, last longer and were more intense. I also noticed changes in my vision especially floaters, extreme sensitivity to light, eye pain, blurry vision and this weird feeling as if my eyes aren't really connected to my brain. I went to see my Dr at that point who ran some bloodwork including autoimmune diseases, lymes etc none of which showed anything. I was relieved to a certain extent, but I was still dealing with my symptoms.

Things got worse during the winter (2011), the overall pain became worse and so did the headaches. I used to have pretty "basic" headaches, now they are very disabling, usually on one side of the head and the pain goes back and forth between a sharp pain and a throbbing. It runs all the way from my neck up to my forehead and my eye. Add to that a pretty much constant headpressure and dizziness. I have had an MRI of my head, neck and spine, also CTs, X-Rays, you name it.... nothing unusual showed. I also have horrible pain in my neck, both front and back. Most of the time it is a dull pulling pain, very uncomfortable, at times it is also a sharp burning pain especially when I move my neck a certain way. I constantly feel like there is a lump in my throat or someone is chocking me. There is a lot of pressure at the base of my skull as well.

What else...I get a lot of facial pain especially my cheeks and lower jaw. I do clench my teeth a lot, and my TMJ tends to pop quite a bit, so I guess there is a bit of a problem there.

I was also diagnosed with hiatal hernia and acid reflux recently, plus had my gallbladder taken out a few months ago. I have also been diagnosed with IBS.

I was recently checked by ENT for the dizziness, but they didn't find anything wrong with my ears. The only things they confirmed was nystagmus (sp?) and that some of the crystals in my ears were a bit off. They adjusted them, but after a couple of days the dizziness was back.

I had my heart checked several times as well, so no reason for dizziness there either.

My Dr is now leaning towards fibromyalgia, plus depression and anxiety. To be honest I do have a lot of anxiety, but it is mostly due to not feeling right. Most days it feels like my brain and eyes are not functioning right and everything is in a big cloud. It scares me so much. Add to that the pain and I can barely function on a bad day. :(

So... any kind of input is appreciated, really, even if it's just some words of encouragement. And thank you for reading!
