Brain Aneurysm
May 11, 2014
Yesterday I learned that both my mother and my grandmother (her mother) have unruptured aneurysms. How likely is it that I have one as well? And how likely for it to rupture if I do have one? I'm a 20 year old female. I don't know if any other family members have/had aneurysms.

Both my mother and grandmother have high blood pressure and my mother has been a VERY heavy smoker for about 40 years. I, on the other hand, always have great blood pressure and I do not smoke and barely drink, although I am constantly around secondhand smoke. I don't know if these factors play into it.

I know brain aneurysms are typically asymptomatic but I have always been prone to headaches, sometimes really bad ones. I've had a headache almost every day for the past 3-4 weeks as well as some eye pain/vision problems and a weird twitching in my head. Right now I have a pretty bad headache with vision problems and I feel kind of nauseous. I chalked it all up to stress and allergies until I learned about my family history.

I'm pretty worried now that I know. Any insight on this would be great :)
