Hi :bouncing:
I am new to this so please bare with me. I was diagnosed with Throat cancer(larynx) in Sept 2003. Operated on and lost 3/4 of my voice box. I was in Intensive care for 1 week and hospital a further 3 weeks. I had no Chemo or Radiation. Apart from Rflux I am doing fine. My voice is a bit rough and quiet but there. If I can help anyone, Please ask and I will tell you what my experience has been.

I am sorry for all you have been through but am very glad you are okay now. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?Do you smoke? What stage was your cancer when diagnosed? The reason I ask is because a very good friend of mine was diagnosed with throat cancer, tumor on his left tonsil. He had a swollen lymph node in his neck for several months but was too afraid to have it checked(cancer runs in his family). He waited until several more showed up then went to the doctor. Anyway they say it is localized in his throat&tonsil and he was lucky that it did not spread to his tongue or nasal cavaties nor will it affect his voice but it is stage 4. He is terrified, he is not a very strong person and I am afraid he won't be strong enough to fight this. He is 38 years old and had to have all of his teeth removed and a feeding tube put it. The doctor said his throat will be so sore from radiation and he will have a hard time swollowing his food. They started chemo yesterday and he is very sick and weak. I am very afraid for him and any advice you can give me to pass along will help  I think they will try to shrink the tumor with radiation then maybe operate. It is in the lymph nodes in the left side of his neck also but it has not spread anywhere else according to the tests. I have a strong faith in God and pray everyday for his recovery. What did you do or what kind of support did you have to help you through? I will pray too for your continued recovery. Thanks for your help!

Hi :bouncing:
Thanks for all the advice but I think it was meant for someone else. I survived throat cancer (voice box).
