I have had a dry cough off and on for the past 3 months. Nothing serious. a month ago I felt I couldnt breath. went to the ER because my throat was burning and my chest felt congested. They took chest x-ray, an angio ct scan w/ dye, didnt find anything but thought I might have an lung embolism because some reading was high on my lungs. but the ct scan showed negative, no cancer, no blocked arteries, nothing... I had an allergic reaction to the dye and they gave me benedryl, solumedrol and prednisone, but the weird thing is, my symptoms went away for a month. They are back and I keep taking benedryl but it's not helping excpet by putting me to sleep.

My doctor seems frustrated but I am too. I always feel like I have to cough, my throat is itchy and I cough so much my throat is hurting. I don't know what else this could be?
I didnt get a reply to my previous question. this might be better.

I had a x ray and ct scan with dye and it showed nothing. But I was told I had slightly elevated d-dimer. Which is my lungs. I am stll having symptoms, should I keep pursuing this and try to get some answers? I am kind of scared.

Candle,
If you are afraid, not feeling well and not getting any answers with your doctor, perhaps you should see a pulmonologist? Someone who specializes in the lungs may be better at deciphering all the tests and all of your symptoms.
