Tumor markers

... My mother has liver cancer and her tumor marker CA 19-9 was at 6,000 before chemo. they said they would do it every month because they flucuate. My mothers marker is now 3,000 and her CT she just had has show the tumor has shrunk in half. (5 replies)
... I totally agree with Sam, You cannot use markers alone. But Doctors look at the whole picture, take all findings, including any lab work, physical exam, any kind of x-rays or CAT scans, etc... My situation was very unique. If my mothers CA 19-9 was not high, we would have never known about her cancer. (9 replies)
