... CP can occur shortly before, during or right after birth, and it is simply damage to the Cerebellum (motor control) area of the brain by lack of oxygen, trauma or brain bleed. Brain damage or brain malformation can be located in any region of the brain. This outside the Cerebellum damage could be labeled Dyspraxia, in my opinion (10 replies)

... al palsy simply means that their is damage caused at birth that is static and resulting in posturing and movement difficulties. Imho its not that different from dyspraxia which is motor planning disorder. My guess is that your daughter is 'mild' enough they don't want to her to be labeled with such a strong word as cp. ... ... I just wanted to introduce myself, I am mother to a little boy who is 2 and a half, he has spastic diplegia. He also has some verbal dyspraxia and suspected mild SID. He is just terrific. He has certainly turned our life inside out, being the youngest of 3 children, his older brother is 12 and his older sister is 14. ... (0 replies)
