I have only had one on my left arm when I was 7 years old and heelcord surgery on my left leg when I was 14. I'm now approaching 38, and was wondering if you have had any surgeries in your adulthood? I didn't start learning about CP until my nephew was born in 2000, and I was on a pre-PT track in college, with lots of volunteer hours in a variety of PT settings including Peds, but I didn't run across any children with such bad lateral stability in their ankles. ... My 4 year old son has been wearing afo's for about 21/2 years, on his 3rd pair, and they are great for him. They help to strretch his muscles and he has been able to stand now. As for shoes, we have just bought inexpensive ones from payless shoe source, famous footware, etc.. we just have to get a wide width. Dragon, I don't need New Balance shoes in wide width because those shoes have removable insoles, and I have been told (not sure if this is true or not so don't quote me) that they were originally designed to be used with braces (orthotics.)
