High Cholesterol Message Board

High Cholesterol Board Index

Well, this is my first post here. I've been reading this board for six weeks now and I feel that I have gotten some good advice here. Anyway, my cholesterol was 264 and while I do not recall the other numbers, they were all bad. After six weeks on lipitor, I'm at a total cholesterol of 168, HDL is 46, LDL is 98 and Triglycerides are 119.

Thanks to you guys Iíve been taking co-q10 at 50mg per day and Iíve been exercising 5-6 days per week. Does the CO-Q10 have any affect on exercise? Is it wise to exercise intensely while on statins?

My Cholesterol used to be pretty good (180-190) and then I quit smoking about 1 Ĺ years ago and gained a ton of weight. Several false starts on Atkins seems to be what drove it up. Iím hoping to lose 40 pounds or so and get off of liptor some day. Has anyone had success getting of statins once theyíve started them?

Any comments appreciated.

Welcome and congrats. on getting on the right path. Seeing U need to lose weight, but have already started the exercise, I'll bet with proper diet and continued exercise U can get off statins later. I see no reason why U shouldn't exercise with a statin, best thing for you. As far as the CoQ10, someone else can help U there, but at least taking some will definitely help.

Try to get yourself on a nice low calorie and low carb diet, keep up with the exercise, lose the weight and U just might get off statins. Want to also say congrats. on the quitting of smoking, that will definitely help, along with a good diet and exercise program. Don't forget to add lots of fruits and veggies to your diet also, and stay away from as many bad carbs as possible, those raise your Trigs. big time!!!

Best of wishes, and keep us posted how it is going....
