Well, the results of my blood test are back. Total Cholesterol 228, triglicerides 157. Blood pressure of 160/100 pulse around 86 bpm.

I went to the doctor because i was just feeling like crap all the time. I'm 32 years old, 6ft 2 inches tall, and weight 230. In the last few years i have let my self go pretty much. Eating alot of crap, not getting much exercise, and gaining about 25 lbs. Figured it was time to have some blod work done.

The doc put me on Cozaar for my blood pressure. it has since dropped to about 138/85 with only a 50mg dose a day. She said i may need to take 100mg if it doesnt bring it down enough. I have to go back in a week to sit down and talk to her about my Cholesterol problem. What should i expect? Diet changes? Get put on meds? Am i gonna have a hear attack? A stroke? They both run in my family.

I guess i'm just scared. Are there any vitamin supplements i should be taking?

Thanks for any info.

Well your numbers aren't horrid, did U get your LDL and HDL? It really is all about the ratio of things. Seeing U have admitted to letting yourself go, I'd have a long talk with the dr. and see if diet and exercise will do the trick for you, it isn't impossible. If she is a caring dr. she will at least let U try a new diet and exercise program for about 6 months, then re test to see how things are going. Having high BP and not great numbers for cholesterol is a lousy combo, but hopefully the Cozaar will help the BP, then U can concentrate on getting those cholesterol numbers down.

Take some time and read some of the posts here, as many folks, like myself, have been able to lower their numbers naturally. Definitely make it a New Years promise to yourself to get your health under control.

Best wishes, and Happy New Year....
