Aim for a total of 1,000 mg (a gram) of supplementarey DHA + EPA. To get this you might need 6 grams of cod-liver oil or less of a more concentrated fish oil.
But the label should spell out exactly the EPA and DHA. If not, don't buy the product.

Don't buy a supplement of "vegetable based Omega-3's" or ALA. You can get these much more cheaply by using canola oil for your daily cooking and salads.
