U didn't list your TC, and I don't have the paper in front of me to calculate it. Your HDL is quite good, so it seems your LDL is the problem. Were your numbers higher before this last test, and if so, by how much?

Have U been watching your intake of fats, especially anything that says hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated, and definitely NO trans fats. Many folks on here have tried taking 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon each day, regular stuff U buy in the grocery store, and also green tea, and have done pretty good taking the LDL down. Make sure U get those fruits and veggies into your diet, and if they aren't in season where U live, go for the canned stuff in lite syrup or frozen, and eat as much green leafy stuff as possible, spinach and stuff like that. U said U cut down on the junk food, try cutting back more if possible, and adding some mixed nuts, not too many, for good oils helps, along with yogurt. If your a big cheese fan, try going easy on that, and even switch to cottage cheese if U can handle that. Also try eating oatmeal at least 3 times a week, and watch those cold cereals, alot of them have hidden junk in them, and stay away from pre packaged foods.

I'm sure others will come here and try to give U some tips, got a great bunch of folks here that do their homework, as many can't take statins, myself included, so we are all trying to help each other lower those numbers without meds. Hopefully some of this helped, and maybe U will beable to get that LDL down without meds. Diet and exercise should always be the first choice, as unless U are at a high risk for heart disease, meds. should be your last resort. Have U any risk factors like heart disease, high BP or diabetes? One has to take all this into consideration while trying to lower their numbers. If your health is ok, I would hope that someone your age would beable to lower the numbers naturally, as your a little young to be on a lifelong drug.
