Aside from an elevated CPK indication the death of cell muscles and the occasional very obvious large muscle pain like in the center of the thigh or mid-calf, there is no good way to tell for sure whether one's pain is coming from statins or arthritis.

If it's clear joint pain like knee, back, ankle or hands it's most likely arthritis.

Statin pain is uncommon, arthritis pain is VERY common.
